Well. My love affair ended suddenly and sadly with the iphone.
I sent my iphones back to att last night because my 32GB 3GS could not receive 3G network. I had to set it to 2G in order for my phone to receive or make calls.
I called apple and att but it was a waste of time and effort.
Maybe if you are totally obsessed with your love one do you put up with hell. I did for arond 15 days and tried to resolve our differences...but it became too painful and i knew we were on the wrong track.
What went wrong: I rec'd my new iphone approx. 10/17/2009. It was bad. It could not sync with itunes...After a long and horrible support experience with ATT, they told me to call apple support. I did. Although very polite, apple told me to go to an Apple Store. Since I live in San Francisco I though it would be fast. No. I had to make an appointment until 7.45pm.
They exchanged the iphone. I ran off. Activated my iphone and from the first moment the quality of the voice line was bad. Calls dropped and i could not receive calls.
I called ATT for support and although I am sure they tried their best, nothing worked.
Knowing that I was still withing my 30 days and I would be leaving town soon, I decided to call it quits and returned my and my roommates iphone back.
Now I am dealing with the nightmare of calling ATT and getting rid of the data plans and dealing with horrible service to do so.
What now: I think will wait for Verizon's Iphone challenger, the Droid, due november 6, 2009.

Nightmare with ATT
I cannot wait until the ATT contract with Apple ends.
I have my new iphone which arrived broken. So I am not blaming ATT for that. I am blaming ATT for the having even basic knowledge to tell me that my phone was broken and go repair. I wasted hours to get to that point.
Today I called and said that I am new to the data/email/voice plans.
I had a data plan and thought that included text messages. It doesn't.
I wanted advice/recommendation/help...nightmare.
I finally think i have what i need.
But this is the what happens when there is monopoly and no competition.

Iphone vs Blackberry.
Well, I did it. After many months (about 6 months) I finally decided to get the Iphone versus the Blackberry. One of the major reasons against the Iphone is the only AT&T provides the service.
I got my iphone from ATT yesterday 10/9/2009. And a smooth exciting event turned into a small frustrating time wasting experience.
Things could have been smoother, accept that ATT seems complete ignorant about the iphone.
One Rep. told me once you buy the phone all support goes through Apple. Believe or not my questions was on charging the phone.
To make a long story short: my phone did not work and ended at the Iphone store in San francisco and finally got it replace.
ATT: no support on the Iphone. They activated my SIM card and that was it. Although it turned out be an Iphone problem, still they should be more knowledgeable.
Apple: I had to schedule an appt. for them to see at 7.20pm Saturday.
I stil went there and wating and was helped. They replaced the phone.
I still believe that it is wrong to have ATT the only provider for the Iphone. I have been with ATT for many years, and was looking forward to switch to Verizon if I had gotten the Blackberry.
